Abuja, Nigeria – The former Chairman of the Nigerian Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has publicly explained the reasons behind his unexpected resignation, citing internal disagreements and challenges within the organisation.

In a statement released on Monday, the ex-chair emphasised that his decision was driven by the need to uphold transparency and integrity in the management of Hajj operations. He highlighted systemic issues that, according to him, hindered the commission’s ability to deliver efficient services to pilgrims.

The resignation has sparked discussions across social and traditional media, with many questioning the future direction of NAHCON under its current leadership. Analysts suggest that the departure could trigger reforms in the agency, which has faced scrutiny in recent years over administrative and operational inefficiencies.

NAHCON officials have yet to release an official response, but sources close to the commission indicate that efforts are underway to stabilise operations and maintain continuity for the upcoming Hajj season.

The ex-chair concluded his statement by urging stakeholders to prioritise accountability and the welfare of pilgrims over internal politics, signalling a call for systemic reforms within the commission.
