The adjournment of a court case involving former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has drawn criticism from an Islamic human rights group, which says the delay reinforces claims of political motivation.
A Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Darius Khobo on Tuesday postponed the bail hearing in El-Rufai’s case to the first week of June 2026.
Reacting to the development, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) said the length of the adjournment raises concerns about the intent behind the prosecution.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, the group argued that the delay lends weight to opposition claims that the case may be politically driven.
MURIC did not provide evidence to substantiate the allegation but urged authorities to ensure transparency and fairness in the judicial process.
There has been no official response from the court or government authorities regarding the concerns raised.
