A prominent Nigerian businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, has claimed that her company legitimately owns an oil block under scrutiny, as investigations by the country’s anti-graft agency continue.
Achimugu, who is being questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), also said that $50,000 was recovered from her residence during a recent search operation.
Speaking on the development, she maintained that the funds and her business interests are lawful, insisting there was nothing incriminating about the money found in her home.
The EFCC has not yet publicly detailed the full scope of its investigation, but the case is part of ongoing efforts by the agency to scrutinise financial transactions linked to high-value assets, including oil sector allocations.
The oil industry remains one of Nigeria’s most sensitive economic sectors, often at the centre of corruption allegations and regulatory disputes.
Authorities are expected to continue interrogations as the investigation progresses, while no formal charges have been announced at this stage.
