Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) have raided a private warehouse in Taraba State, recovering relief materials believed to have been earmarked for disaster victims and arresting four suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of humanitarian supplies.

The operation was carried out in Sintali Ward of Jalingo Local Government Area after intelligence reportedly provided by local residents, who alerted security officials to suspicious overnight movement of relief items from government storage facilities to a privately owned warehouse.

According to security sources, the raid led to the recovery of food supplies and other humanitarian items valued at millions of naira. The materials are believed to have been donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) for distribution to people affected by disasters across the state.

Four individuals, including the warehouse owner and three rice traders, were arrested during the operation. The recovered items were subsequently transported to the DSS office in Jalingo for documentation and further investigation.

Investigators are seeking to establish whether the relief materials were unlawfully diverted from official custody or had been stored at the warehouse for legitimate administrative reasons.

Neither the DSS nor the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency had issued an official statement at the time of publication.

The investigation remains ongoing.
