Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has criticised the prolonged dispute between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, saying their falling-out destroyed one of Africa’s most successful music brands.
Speaking in an interview with GoldMyne TV on Saturday, Daddy Showkey said P-Square’s influence extended beyond the siblings because of the huge fan base they built over the years.
“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.
The singer stressed that entertainers owe much of their success to fans and should consider those supporters when making major decisions.
“As an entertainer I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage. I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey,” he said. “If the people have made you, you are not considering them but considering how much you guys are making.”
Daddy Showkey urged Peter and Paul to reconcile, warning that a prolonged feud could have consequences for their children and future generations.
“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children,” he said. “Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children.”
