Singer Cynthia Morgan has publicly responded to Peter Okoye’s recent comments regarding her past ordeal with the Okoye family, describing a personal encounter that left her deeply disappointed.

In a post, Morgan recounted how Peter’s support during her 2020 crisis turned sour when she met him to express gratitude. According to her, what followed was a revelation that shook her trust in him.

“In 2020 after my interview and those tweets from Peter, I went to him with my mum to thank him for his online support and my plans,” she wrote. “He categorically told me I can’t fight his brother, that his brother is richer than me, and that his stance online wasn’t because he cared for me—my situation just happened to fit his narrative.”

She said the experience “broke” her and led to a continued online confrontation with the Okoye brothers, which she claimed eventually led to her being labelled “crazy”. Although she noted that Peter later apologised during a reconnection in 2024, she expressed shock at seeing him use her name again “in a disparaging manner” this week. “That will not be tolerated,” she declared.

The singer’s remarks came after Peter Okoye took to Instagram to defend himself against claims made by his elder brother Jude Okoye’s camp. In a post, Peter said: “Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything to make me look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am PETER OKOYE, the one and only THE ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail.”

Peter’s post appears to have reignited old tensions with both Cynthia Morgan and other former associates of the Okoye family.

Jude Okoye, who formerly managed P-Square before the group split, is currently entangled in a legal battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The agency has arraigned him on multiple counts of alleged theft and criminal conversion of over $1 million in music royalties from digital distribution platforms. Court records confirm that two hearings have already taken place, with the matter adjourned to October 10 and 17, 2025.
