Cubana Chiefpriest, the socialite-turned-musician Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, has publicly thanked veteran actress Ngozi Ezeonu after she comforted him during a recent music-video shoot in which she played his mother.
Posting photographs from the set on his Instagram page, Cubana described a touching exchange with the Nollywood icon following a conversation about his late mother. “After she heard my mum’s story… After she had pampered me with words… Then she put a smile back on our faces,” he wrote, adding: “Mama, @officialngoziezeonu thank you so much.”
The brief on-set interaction, which has since trended on social media, showed Ezeonu offering encouragement that the musician said cleared the energy on set and restored morale. The shoot took place at a church location and included scenes where Ezeonu portrayed a maternal figure to the emerging artiste.
Cubana, who has recently expanded his public profile with music releases, also used the post to reflect on the significance of building and succeeding in his hometown. He shared scenes from a near-complete mansion in Umuhu Okabia, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, noting that his decision to erect the home outside Lagos symbolises a desire to give back to his community. “Success should not only be measured by how much one builds in Lagos, Abuja, or abroad,” his post read, stressing the importance of returning home to “build” for the people that raised him.
The exchange with Ezeonu comes amid ongoing public interest in Cubana’s personal life. In 2023 a woman alleged that Cubana fathered her child; he denied the claim and the matter was reportedly being pursued in the United States. The recent post did not reference the paternity dispute.
Reaction to the photographs and message was broadly positive on social media, with many fans praising Ezeonu’s warmth and professional generosity. One commenter wrote: “Mama with the most soothing energy!” while others encouraged listeners to stream Cubana’s music.
