China has announced plans to send emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, as the escalating conflict across the Middle East triggers a worsening humanitarian crisis.

The move comes amid intensifying violence in the region, where ongoing military confrontations have displaced hundreds of thousands and strained already fragile health and aid systems.

Beijing said the aid is aimed at alleviating the suffering of civilians affected by the conflict, which has spread beyond Iran to neighbouring countries, fuelling regional instability and raising global concern.

Recent fighting has seen widespread destruction, particularly in Lebanon and parts of Iran, with mass displacement and growing shortages of medical supplies and basic necessities reported by international agencies.

China’s pledge adds to mounting international efforts to respond to the crisis, as humanitarian organisations warn that existing resources are overstretched and funding gaps could further worsen conditions on the ground.

The Chinese government also reiterated calls for de-escalation and a ceasefire, urging all parties involved to prioritise dialogue and prevent further deterioration of the situation.

The announcement underscores Beijing’s increasing diplomatic and humanitarian engagement in the Middle East, as global powers respond to one of the region’s most volatile escalations in recent years.
