Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has stated that he should not be held responsible for the non-disclosure of individuals allegedly financing terrorism in Nigeria. However, he affirmed that the financiers are known and are embedded within society.
Speaking on Channels Television’s *Politics Today* program on Friday, the retired lieutenant general said relevant authorities are aware of those funding terrorist activities but have reasons for withholding their identities from the public.
“You cannot say I should be responsible for naming the financiers of terror,” Buratai said. “The people involved are within our society, and the appropriate agencies know who they are.”
Buratai’s comments come amid ongoing public concern over the financing networks that sustain Boko Haram insurgency and other terror groups in the country.
