Russia has firmly rejected claims that it proposed a deal to the United States to halt intelligence sharing with Iran in exchange for Washington cutting support to Ukraine, calling the reports “unfounded”.

The denial comes amid mounting speculation of behind-the-scenes negotiations, after media reports suggested Moscow floated a quid pro quo arrangement linking the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Russian officials, however, insist no such proposal was made, reiterating their position as geopolitical tensions intensify across both regions.

The reports had alleged that Russia offered to curb intelligence cooperation with Iran if the US scaled back its backing of Ukraine — a claim now categorically denied by Moscow, further deepening the fog of competing narratives between global powers.

The development highlights growing mistrust and strategic posturing between Washington and Moscow, as both conflicts remain deeply intertwined in an increasingly volatile global landscape.
