Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has offered unusually warm commendation to President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a transformative leader whose legacy extends beyond party lines.

Speaking during a public engagement, Mohammed said the PDP governors had always acted in good faith towards the presidency and continued to hold President Tinubu in high regard despite political differences.

“We meant well for the presidency; we mean well for President Tinubu,” he said. “He is a symbol of opposition, he rose from Lagos, the lion of Lagos, who brought revolution in Lagos that brought development. Some of us, even in opposition, we respect him.”

The governor credited Tinubu with pioneering reforms during his tenure as Lagos State governor, adding that such achievements had earned him admiration even among political rivals.

Mohammed’s remarks come at a time of heightened political tension, making his acknowledgement of Tinubu’s leadership particularly notable. Analysts say the comments may signal a push for healthier engagement between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition PDP.

The Presidency has yet to formally respond to the governor’s statement.
