Nigerian activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju has launched a scathing attack on former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of prioritising personal political ambitions over party interests and loyal supporters.

Speaking on recent political developments, Adeyanju alleged that Obi’s approach to politics is driven largely by self-interest, citing the political dynamics surrounding Rivers State during the last general election.

“All Peter Obi cares about is himself,” Adeyanju said. “In Rivers, he was willing to sacrifice his foot soldiers and allow the PDP to take the state while focusing on securing national gains for himself. What kind of politician does that?”

He further claimed that Obi’s primary focus remains securing a place on the ballot ahead of future elections, arguing that the former Labour Party flagbearer’s pursuit of power is rooted more in personal ambition than public service.

“All he keeps saying is, ‘I must be on the ballot, give me the ticket.’ This desperation to get to power is not about service,” Adeyanju added.

The remarks are the latest in a series of criticisms directed at Obi as discussions intensify over opposition politics and possible political realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.
