Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and a leading governorship aspirant of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has called on party supporters to remain calm amid growing uncertainty over the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election.
In a statement released on Monday, Adelabu said no official result had been announced by the APC’s national leadership, stressing that the party’s headquarters had not authorised any individual, group, or committee in Oyo State to declare the outcome of the exercise.
The former minister urged party faithful to avoid actions that could deepen tensions within the party, assuring supporters that the process remains under the control of the APC national leadership.
“The national headquarters of our great party has not empowered anyone in Oyo State to announce the outcome of the primary election,” Adelabu said, calling on members to remain patient while awaiting an official position from the party.
His appeal comes amid heightened speculation and competing claims surrounding the primary, raising concerns about possible divisions within the state chapter of the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Adelabu reaffirmed his commitment to the party and appealed to supporters not to abandon the APC, expressing confidence that the leadership would ensure a transparent and credible resolution to the process.
The APC is yet to issue an official statement announcing the final outcome of the primary election.
