Nigerian Army troops have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered 281 rustled livestock during a security operation targeting bandits in Sokoto State.
The operation, carried out by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division Garrison, took place in Shagari Local Government Area of the state, as part of ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities and restore peace in affected communities.
According to the Army, the troops successfully liberated the victims after engaging suspected bandits during the operation. The recovered livestock were believed to have been stolen from local farmers and residents in the area.
The latest operation forms part of the military’s broader campaign to dismantle bandit networks, protect vulnerable communities, and safeguard lives and property across the North-West region.
Security forces have continued to intensify operations in Sokoto and neighbouring states, where banditry, kidnapping and livestock rustling have remained major security challenges.
The Nigerian Army has assured residents of its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at improving security and ensuring that criminal elements are denied freedom of action.
