The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have called off the planned strike in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following an extensive meeting with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The decision was reached late on Monday after hours of negotiations between labour leaders and officials of the FCT Administration, aimed at resolving lingering disputes that had threatened to shut down activities in the nation’s capital.

Speaking after the meeting, labour sources confirmed that key concerns raised by workers were addressed, leading to an agreement that paved the way for the suspension of the strike action. Although details of the resolutions were not immediately made public, both parties expressed commitment to continued dialogue and industrial harmony.

The development brings relief to residents and businesses in Abuja, who had braced for disruptions to public services, transportation, and economic activities.

Minister Wike was said to have assured labour leaders of the administration’s willingness to engage constructively and prioritise workers’ welfare, stressing the importance of stability in the FCT.
