— Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the North-West chapter of the National Community Food Bank Programme in Jigawa State, as the state government honoured her by renaming a major road in her recognition.
The launch, held at the Government House Conference Hall in Dutse on Monday, brought together the governors of all seven North-West states: Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
As part of the visit, the Jigawa State Government officially renamed Gandun Sarki Road after the First Lady, with Oluremi Tinubu performing the inauguration.
She also commissioned several infrastructure projects, including the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic and Dialysis Centre, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road linking Hadejia, Garun Gabas and Dolan, as well as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy in Hadejia.
The National Community Food Bank Programme is designed to tackle food insecurity by expanding access to nutritious food for vulnerable households across the region. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen food security and improve the welfare of communities facing economic hardship.
