••Ex-SGF Recounts NADECO’s Fight for Abiola’s Mandate, His Own Imprisonment.

Chief Olu Falae, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has responded to General Ibrahim Babangida’s recent confirmation in his memoir that MKO Abiola won the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, saying the revelation holds no surprises. Falae, who was a key figure in the struggle to actualize Abiola’s mandate, recalled the formation of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and his own two-year detention for advocating for Abiola’s presidency. “What he said is nothing new—we have always known and believed that Abiola won the election,” Falae asserted. He emphasized that NADECO’s fight was based on the firm conviction of Abiola’s victory.
