The FCT minister questions the former Anambra governor’s repeated visits to internally displaced persons’ camps during an event in Abuja.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has questioned the perceived humility of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, over his repeated visits to internally displaced persons (IDP) camps across Nigeria.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday at the first Idoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony, organised in collaboration with Ochetoha K’Idoma as part of the Idoma Centenary Plus celebration in Abuja.

The minister’s comments focused on Obi’s visits to IDP camps, raising questions about the former Anambra State governor’s public displays of humility.

Obi, who served as Anambra governor from 2006 to 2014, has been known for his public engagements and visits to communities facing hardship.

The remarks come amid continued public debate over the conduct, public image and political messaging of prominent Nigerian politicians.
