Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says President Bola Tinubu’s protection is the reason FCT Minister Nyesom Wike remains a relevant political force.
Momodu said the former Rivers governor would be “a nobody” without presidential backing and is always eager to “proclaim his desperate love for Tinubu” because his political survival depends on the president.
He made the remarks in a post on X on Monday during an interaction with followers. A follower had asked why Wike had been allowed to “suffocate” Momodu’s political ally and former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar out of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Responding, Momodu wrote: “Wike is a nobody without Tinubu’s protection. Don’t you see how he is struggling to proclaim his desperate love for Tinubu at every opportunity? His survival depends absolutely on the president.”

The Ovation publisher also dismissed claims that he is opposed to former Anambra governor and 2027 ADC presidential hopeful Peter Obi. “I can never be anti‑Obi. The first time I supported Obi was when Atiku picked him as his running mate. I’m not aware that they are enemies; they always treat each other with mutual respect in private and public,” he said.
