A 36-year-old governorship hopeful in Adamawa State has called for a shift away from dependence on government, arguing that the state’s future lies in wealth creation and economic empowerment.

Abdulrahman Haske formally declared his ambition on Saturday, April 25, to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview with TheCable, Haske said his decision to run is driven by a desire to reposition Adamawa’s economy and reduce reliance on state structures for survival.

“The future of Adamawa is not in waiting for government handouts but in building systems that create wealth and opportunities,” he said, outlining a vision centred on private-sector growth and job creation.

Despite being younger than many of his potential rivals, Haske insisted he is better prepared for the role than several older aspirants, pointing to what he described as his experience and forward-looking ideas.

His declaration comes as political activity begins to gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections, with aspirants positioning themselves within party structures and outlining competing visions for leadership in the northeastern state.
