A major diplomatic scandal is brewing as Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, has publicly accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to bribe a United States official.

Representative Daniels, who also serves as the Chairperson of the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD), alleged in a viral video on Monday that the bribery attempt was aimed at suppressing or altering a report on the “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

“A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN-WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report,” Daniels stated in the video posted to her official Facebook account.

The report in question reportedly indicts the Minister regarding the ongoing insecurity and killings in Plateau, Benue, Kaduna, and other regions of the country. Daniels maintained that she would not be silenced by “pressure” and has reiterated her call for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to relieve Matawalle of his duties.

As of press time, Minister Matawalle has not issued an official response to these weighty allegations.
