Two students have been arrested in connection with the death of a 300-level biochemistry student of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State.

The Vice Chancellor of PAAU, Prof. Salisu Usman, disclosed this during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Lokoja on Saturday.

He assured the parents that the killers of David Solomon would face the full wrath of the law.

He said the university’s internal security team arrested the suspects within two hours of the incident.

“They were subsequently handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution,” he added.

According to him, the university is working closely with security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and to identify all persons directly or indirectly involved in the incident.

The vice-chancellor described the incident as painful and unacceptable, noting that it had thrown the university community into mourning.

He emphasised the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards cultism, violence, criminality and other forms of anti-social behaviour capable of endangering lives on campus.

Mr Usman further disclosed that the university had intensified surveillance and strengthened existing security measures within and around the campus to prevent a recurrence.

He added that additional security reforms would be unveiled in the coming days to further enhance the institution’s security architecture.

The vice-chancellor assured parents, guardians and members of the public that the university was committed to providing a safe and conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.

He also commended Governor Ahmed Ododo, traditional rulers and security agencies for their support in maintaining peace and security within the university community.

Responding, the deceased’s father, Solomon Idachaba, appreciated the university management for the condolence visit and lauded the swift arrest of the suspects.

He also thanked the management for its commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
