The price of cooking gas has jumped sharply to N1,700 per kilogram, deepening concerns over the escalating cost of essential household energy in Nigeria.
Under the new pricing, filling a standard 12.5kg cylinder now costs approximately ₦21,250, placing additional pressure on households already grappling with inflation and rising living expenses.
The sudden increase has triggered widespread reactions from consumers, with many describing the development as unsustainable and “not normal,” amid growing fears that energy costs may continue to climb.
