President Donald Trump said Saturday that there are “some good candidates” to lead Iran following the announced killing of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In a phone interview with CBS News, Trump was asked who he thought was currently in charge of Iran. He responded, “I know exactly who, but I can’t tell you.”
When pressed on whether there is someone he would prefer to see assume leadership, the president replied, “Yes, I think so. There are some good candidates.”
Trump did not provide further details on whom he was referencing.
