Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued 12 Boko Haram kidnap victims—comprising seven women and five children—during a decisive clearance operation in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.

In a statement on Tuesday, military authorities confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore security across the North-East. The troops reportedly stormed several hideouts in the mountainous axis, dislodging the insurgents and safely evacuating the captives.

According to the military, the rescued victims are currently receiving medical care and undergoing debriefing before being reunited with their families.

The Mandara Mountains, which straddle the Nigeria–Cameroon border, have long served as a strategic hideout for Boko Haram fighters. Recent intensified operations by the Nigerian Armed Forces aim to neutralise remaining pockets of the insurgency.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements until total peace is restored in the region.
