The National Coordinating Council of the RiseUp Naija Movement met with African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at his official residence in Abuja on Monday for a closed-door strategic discussion.
Council leaders used the meeting to present the movement’s organisational structure, vision and grassroots roadmap for civic engagement and governance reforms. The presentation outlined plans to mobilise disciplined citizen networks ward by ward and local government area by local government area across Nigeria, with a focus on converting civic energy into institutional political power.
Mr. Atiku praised the movement’s organisation and long-term planning and commended its effort to move beyond rhetoric to build tangible community structures. He gave the council a formal assurance of his commitment to youth inclusion, saying young Nigerians would have structural roles in executive decision-making, policy development and leadership placement under his proposed administration.
“Our consultation with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reinforces our foundational mantra: we are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” a RiseUp Naija spokesperson said. “We are taking the blueprint of grassroots organisation to the highest tables of decision-making. True political power must be built from the roots, and we are locking in the firm institutional commitments required to guarantee that active citizens permanently own the structure.”
The meeting is described by RiseUp Naija leadership as a milestone in its nationwide mobilisation campaign as state and ward frameworks continue to be established across the federation.
