A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the ruling party as a vehicle of development and progress under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The announcement was made during a brief ceremony held in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor.
Speaking at the event, Yarin Fika said his decision to join the APC was driven by Governor Buni’s visible commitment to the development and transformation of Yobe State.
“I was attracted into the APC by Governor Buni’s commitment to developing the state,” he said. “I want you to mark my words, PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe State is dead.”
The former PDP stalwart also announced that his supporters across the Zone B Senatorial District had followed his lead in defecting to the APC, pledging to contribute to the continued success of the Buni-led administration.
“All my supporters in Zone B have shifted their loyalty to the APC. We are ready to support the governor’s success story in the state,” he added.
Reacting to the defection, the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described Yarin Fika’s move as a “big catch” for the party, noting that his political weight and influence would further strengthen the APC’s hold in the state.
“We value this defection, and we will support you fully. You will enjoy every opportunity available to all our members,” Gadaka assured.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, while welcoming the new member and his followers, said their entry into the APC marks another milestone in the party’s growing strength and unity across Yobe.
“Your decision to join us is highly appreciated. You and your supporters are now equal members of the APC. Your defection will improve the fortunes of our party in Potiskum, Zone B, and the state in general,” Buni said.
