Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has attributed his continued stay in office to what he described as a “special favour” from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the President’s intervention was pivotal during the height of the state’s political crisis.
Speaking on Monday during an event in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara acknowledged that the tensions in the state could have taken a different turn if not for President Tinubu’s timely involvement.
He noted that while political disputes are not unusual, the intensity of the conflict in Rivers State required a firm but neutral hand to prevent a breakdown of governance and to protect the mandate freely given to him by the people.
According to him, the President’s intervention helped stabilise the situation and ensure that the democratic process was not derailed.
Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to delivering effective governance, adding that he remains focused on providing quality leadership for the people of Rivers State despite political distractions.
He also urged political actors in the state to prioritise peace, unity, and development over personal interests.
