President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Abia State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, in a move widely seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen federal–state collaboration.

Although details of the closed-door meeting were not immediately disclosed, sources familiar with the engagement said discussions centred on governance, economic development and areas of mutual cooperation between the Federal Government and Abia State.

The visit comes amid renewed emphasis by the Tinubu administration on fostering inclusive partnerships across party lines to accelerate national development and improve service delivery at the subnational level.

Governor Otti, who assumed office in May 2023, has prioritised fiscal discipline, infrastructure renewal and public sector reforms in Abia, earning praise for early efforts to reposition the state’s economy.

Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has been a key figure in the President’s coordination team, tasked with aligning policy priorities between the presidency and other tiers of government.

Observers say the meeting underscores Abuja’s outreach to state governments as it pushes forward its reform agenda, particularly in areas such as investment promotion, security and social services.
