The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be rejected across all regions of Nigeria in the 2027 general elections, citing what it described as “unprecedented hardship, insecurity and economic collapse” under his administration.

Speaking in Lagos on Monday, the South West Coordinator of GHSM, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, dismissed recent claims by the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the ruling party remains unbeatable. He accused the APC of displaying “the same arrogance and false sense of invincibility” that led to its shock defeat in Lagos during the 2023 presidential election.

> “In 2023, it was in this same manner that the Lagos APC dismissed opposition elements as ‘online politicians’, only to lose the presidential election in Lagos to the very people they mocked,” Olaniyi said.

“The APC not only lost Lagos but also performed woefully across Southern Nigeria. President Tinubu was merely rescued by votes from the North  a support base that has now completely evaporated.”

The group maintained that the northern bloc that once stood behind President Tinubu has fractured beyond repair due to “catastrophic economic and security failures.”

Olaniyi accused the APC of presiding over what he called a decade-long economic collapse that has “defied logic and destroyed livelihoods.”

“For ten years under APC leadership, Nigeria’s economy has suffered a collapse that defies logic. The economy has shrunk by almost 50 percent  an economic disaster unprecedented in our history,” he stated.

“Not even during the military era nor the civil war did the nation experience this level of devastation.”

The GHSM spokesperson further argued that the ruling party has failed to deliver on its promises to end insurgency and improve security across the country.

“Today, hunger, poverty and hopelessness define the Tinubu administration. Nigerians can no longer be deceived by propaganda or empty promises,” Olaniyi said.

He insisted that the 2027 elections will be decided not by regional sentiment but by the “harsh realities” faced by ordinary Nigerians.

“With the decapitation of the APC in the North and its dismal record in office, no amount of coercion or recruitment of Southern governors into its fold can save it from defeat in 2027,” he asserted.

“The South West electorate is far too enlightened to reward monumental failure simply because President Tinubu hails from the region.”
