President Bola Tinubu has pledged that his administration will ensure balanced development across Nigeria, leaving no region behind. Speaking at a dynamic two-day government-citizen engagement session hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna on Tuesday, Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, outlined transformative achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our economic reforms are bold and strategic, designed to forge a robust, diversified, and resilient economy,” Tinubu declared, emphasizing initiatives like exchange rate unification and debt restructuring to stabilize and grow Nigeria’s economy. He highlighted significant investments in modernizing security infrastructure, upskilling personnel, and advancing agriculture to achieve food security and transform Nigeria into an agricultural powerhouse.
Tinubu showcased flagship projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and ongoing rail developments like the Kano-Maradi and Port Harcourt-Maiduguri lines. Housing initiatives and a student loan program benefiting over 400,000 tertiary students with N53 billion disbursed were also celebrated as pillars of progress.
Addressing the controversial fuel subsidy removal, Tinubu acknowledged its challenges but underscored its necessity, noting that trillions of naira saved are being reinvested into critical infrastructure, human development, and state allocations. Palliative measures, support for MSMEs, and public transportation upgrades are easing the transition, he added.
The Renewed Hope Agenda prioritizes economic reform, national security, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, education, health, and governance rooted in transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. “Security is the bedrock of development,” Tinubu stressed, vowing to ensure safety for all Nigerians. He also outlined plans to modernize farming, expand market access, and harness Nigeria’s natural resources sustainably to drive economic growth.
Reflecting on the event’s theme, Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Development, Tinubu called for patience and collective effort to realize these ambitious goals. He paid tribute to the late Sir Ahmadu Bello and other northern leaders for their enduring legacy of unity and patriotism.
Accompanied by a high-powered delegation of ministers, agency heads, and top aides, Tinubu’s message was clear: Nigeria’s future is one of shared prosperity, innovation, and unwavering commitment to every region’s progress.
