President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to recruit more than 50,000 new police officers alongside thousands of additional military personnel in a major push to strengthen security across Nigeria.
The announcement forms part of the federal government’s broader strategy to reinforce the country’s security architecture and improve the capacity of security agencies to tackle persistent threats, including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.
