President Bola Tinubu has approved a two-year extension for Mr AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin as Surveyor-General of the Federation.
The decision follows the recent move of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) under the direct oversight of the Presidency — a development seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen national geospatial governance.
Mr Adebomehin, who currently heads the federal agency responsible for mapping and land survey data, will continue in office from 5 January 2026, when his current term was set to expire. The extension is expected to provide continuity and stability during the administrative transition.
The Presidency has not disclosed whether further structural changes to OSGOF are planned.
