Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a scathing warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the suffering of Nigerians could ultimately determine the outcome of the 2027 elections.

In strongly worded remarks, Atiku accused the current administration of presiding over worsening hardship and insecurity, suggesting that the plight of citizens could translate into political consequences at the ballot box.

“The blood of innocent Nigerians will forcefully remove you,” Atiku said, in comments that underscore rising political tensions as early alignments for the next general election begin to take shape.

The statement reflects deepening criticism from opposition figures, who argue that the government has failed to adequately address economic challenges and protect lives amid persistent security concerns.

The presidency has not formally responded to the remarks. However, allies of Tinubu have previously defended the administration’s policies, pointing to ongoing reforms they say are aimed at stabilising the economy and improving national security.

Nigeria’s next presidential election is scheduled for 2027, but political rhetoric has intensified well ahead of the contest, signalling what could be a fiercely contested race.
