Solomon Adeola, senator representing Ogun West, has moved to consolidate political support ahead of the 2027 governorship race, meeting with Iyabo Obasanjo following his emergence through a consensus arrangement within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the meeting, Adeola appealed for Obasanjo’s backing, assuring her of his commitment to deliver if elected. “I won’t let you down,” he said, in a direct pitch aimed at strengthening alliances within the state’s political landscape.
Obasanjo, a former senator and influential political figure in Ogun State, remains a key voice whose support could shape alignments ahead of the election.
Adeola’s outreach comes amid early manoeuvring for the 2027 polls, as aspirants within the ruling APC and beyond begin to build coalitions and secure endorsements in what is expected to be a closely watched contest.
The meeting signals a strategic effort by the Ogun West lawmaker to deepen his political base and position himself as a leading contender in the race for the state’s top office.
