Gusau, Nigeria – A wave of terror struck Morai town in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday night, leaving a former local government sole administrator, Saminu Morai, and three other residents dead. Multiple individuals were also abducted during the brutal invasion, SaharaReporters has learned.
A local source, speaking to SaharaReporters, confirmed the devastating attack, describing it as “brutal and shocking.”
“Bandits attacked Morai town in Talata Mafara local government of Zamfara state, killed the former Talata Mafara local government sole administrator and 3 others. Many people were kidnapped,” the resident stated.
The attack unfolded late Monday night, plunging the entire community into chaos and fear. “The name of the administrator is Saminu Morai. The attack happened last night,” the source further explained.
The tragic killings have prompted a response from traditional and local authorities, with the Emir of Talata Mafara and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area reportedly present at the burial of the victims.
“And Emir of Talata Mafara together with DPO of Talata Mafara attended the funeral,” the source confirmed.
SaharaReporters gathered that the deceased were laid to rest according to Islamic tradition shortly after the deadly incident.
As of the time of this report, the Zamfara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack. The exact number of abducted residents and the size of the assailant group remain unknown.
Zamfara State has long been plagued by relentless attacks from armed terrorist groups, often referred to as bandits. These groups perpetrate killings, mass abductions, and raids on vulnerable rural communities, often encountering minimal resistance.
