•• Says APC has turned governance into propaganda
Former Governor of Jigawa State and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of failing to provide Nigerians with an accurate account of the nation’s situation under his administration.
In an appearance on the BBC Hausa service program ‘Gane Mini Hanya,’ Lamido also criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari for his lack of transparency during his tenure.
Lamido asserted that both the Buhari and Tinubu administrations have favored propaganda over honesty, contrasting their approach with the transparency he claims characterized the PDP’s time in power.
“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians, unlike during the PDP era when everything was clear and accessible to all citizens. With Buhari’s administration, deception and propaganda became the primary tools for governance,” he stated.
He specifically challenged President Tinubu’s recent loan requests, arguing that the government’s narrative does not align with its fiscal actions. “If Nigerians are being told the truth, then there is nothing wrong with that. But how can you budget N30 trillion, project to generate N50 trillion, and then request a loan when you have a surplus of N20 trillion?” he questioned, referencing last year’s budget.
Lamido further criticized what he described as “recklessness and clear-cut selfishness,” emphasizing that such actions are unprecedented in responsible governance worldwide. He noted, “Despite the criticism faced by the APC on social media, where they are often labeled a calamity, some Nigerians continue to defend them.”
