A prosecution witness on Wednesday told the court that more than N550 million was converted into United States dollars and used to pay for a property allegedly linked to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
The witness, testifying before the court, said the funds were exchanged into foreign currency before being used for the acquisition of the property, as proceedings continued in the case against the former governor.
The testimony forms part of the prosecution’s efforts to establish the financial trail of the transaction. The defence is expected to challenge the claims as the trial continues.
Yahaya Bello has denied all allegations against him, and the case has been adjourned for further hearing.
