Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has lashed out at controversial activist Martins Otse better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM)accusing him of manipulating public sentiment over the tragic death of singer Mohbad.
Speaking in a heated video posted on social media, Portable expressed frustration over what he described as VDM’s growing pattern of “deceit and hypocrisy,” particularly in the ongoing “Justice for Mohbad” campaign.
“You came out deceiving Nigerians that you want justice for Mohbad. You’re a manipulator,” Portable said directly in the video.
“Now you’re dragging Iyabo Ojo what’s really her offence? Is she the problem now?”
Portable, who rose to fame with his breakout hit Zazu Zeh, said VDM was doing more harm than good by shifting focus away from actual justice and turning the matter into a personal vendetta.
“You claimed you wanted justice for Mohbad, so why are you now going against Mohbad? Let the boy rest in peace.
“You’re the one who first alleged that he was killed by certain people. Why the U-turn?”
He further slammed VDM’s frequent online criticism of actress and activist Iyabo Ojo, suggesting that the influencer is fuelling division rather than accountability.
“Are you the one who will tell Nigerians who is good or bad? We know who bullied Mohbad. Stop deceiving Nigerians,” Portable said.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances that triggered national outrage. Although initial attention focused on bullying allegations against music industry figures, the online campaign has since become mired in personal feuds, with some accusing VDM of exploiting the tragedy for fame.
The ongoing war of words between VDM and several celebrities including Iyabo Ojo, Davido, and Soso Soberekon—has continued to trend, blurring the lines between justice advocacy and social media drama.
: “It’s not about trending; it’s about truth and respect for the dead.”
