Shettima Speaks Out on Maiduguri Mosque Blast, Pledges Swift Justice

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has publicly addressed the tragic mosque bombing in Maiduguri, vowing that the Federal Government will ensure justice is served and that those responsible are brought to account.

In his first official reaction to the incident, the Vice-President described the attack as “a heartbreaking assault on innocent worshippers and an affront to the nation’s collective values.” He extended condolences to the families affected and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening security across the country.

Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, said the blast underscores the need for continued vigilance and enhanced intelligence coordination among security agencies. He assured citizens that the perpetrators would not escape justice.

“We will not allow forces of violence to destabilise our communities,” he stated, adding that President Bola Tinubu has directed all relevant agencies to intensify investigations and support victims.

The Vice-President also praised first responders and community members who assisted in the immediate aftermath, emphasising that national unity remains crucial in confronting threats to public safety.
