The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has declared that corruption remains a major obstacle to Nigeria’s progress, warning that the nation cannot attain its full potential while graft continues to flourish.
Speaking during a public engagement on Tuesday, Olukoyede stressed that corruption is not only undermining economic growth and public trust but also “blocking God’s blessings” from reaching the country.
According to him, the scale of corruption within both public and private institutions has deepened poverty, weakened governance, and slowed development efforts that could have transformed the nation.
Olukoyede urged Nigerians to support the Commission’s anti-corruption drive, adding that collective resistance against graft is essential for national renewal.
He reiterated the EFCC’s commitment to pursuing cases without fear or favour, insisting that the fight against corruption must place integrity above sentiment or political affiliation.
The EFCC boss further appealed to religious leaders, community influencers, and young people to champion a culture of accountability, noting that moral values must align with legal enforcement for sustainable change.
Olukoyede’s remarks have continued to generate nationwide debate, underscoring growing public demand for transparency and reform across all levels of government.
