A heated exchange erupted on social media on Monday as Arise TV presenter Oseni Rufai and political commentator Daniel Bwala clashed over a contentious claim regarding the suspension of a political figure.

The row began after a report circulated alleging that a senior party official had been suspended—an assertion Rufai publicly questioned, urging for “verified information rather than political propaganda.”

Bwala swiftly responded, accusing Rufai of bias and “misrepresenting facts to mislead the public.” He insisted the suspension claim was based on credible sources and challenged the broadcaster to “present contrary evidence instead of casting aspersions.”

Rufai fired back, dismissing Bwala’s accusations as “baseless theatrics” and calling on political actors to prioritise transparency. Their exchange quickly gained traction, drawing commentary from supporters and critics on both sides.

Observers say the confrontation highlights the increasingly combative tone of Nigeria’s political discourse online, where journalists, party spokesmen, and influencers often collide over contested narratives.

As at press time, neither party had issued a formal statement beyond their social media posts, while the political party at the centre of the controversy has yet to clarify the status of the alleged suspension.
