Russian President Vladimir Putin has convened an emergency meeting of the country’s Security Council to deliberate on the escalating war-related tensions surrounding Iran, the Kremlin has confirmed.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the president held a video conference with the permanent members of Russia’s Security Council to assess the unfolding situation and its broader regional and international implications.
Peskov did not disclose specific details of the discussions but said the session focused on developments linked to Iran and the potential impact on regional stability, security cooperation, and Russia’s strategic interests.
Russia, which maintains diplomatic and economic ties with Tehran, has repeatedly called for restraint and dialogue amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Moscow has positioned itself as a key geopolitical actor in regional conflicts, advocating political solutions over military escalation.
The Security Council meeting signals heightened concern within the Kremlin over the trajectory of events and their possible consequences for global security dynamics.
Further details of the deliberations are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
