President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, urging Nigerians to embrace the values of peace, love, and tolerance during the festive season.
In his statement released on 25 December, President Tinubu highlighted the spiritual significance of Christmas, calling on citizens to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and his enduring message of salvation, hope, and harmony.
“My Fellow Nigerians, as we mark this year’s Christmas, may the love of Christ and his message of grace, hope, peace, and goodwill to humanity abide with us all,” the President said.
He extended warm greetings to all Christians in Nigeria and across the globe, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation and reiterating his commitment to religious freedom. Tinubu emphasised that all Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations safely and with dignity.
The President also praised Christians in Nigeria for their contributions to societal progress, particularly in caring for the vulnerable and promoting peace, tolerance, and harmony in their communities.
Since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu noted, his administration has prioritised national security, unity, and stability. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering interfaith dialogue, preventing conflict, and ensuring peaceful coexistence.
“Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of engaging with prominent leaders from the two major faiths in the country, particularly amid concerns about religious intolerance and insecurity. We will build on these conversations to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions,” he stated.
As Nigerians travel to be with family and loved ones during the holidays, the President urged caution and patience on the roads, wishing all travellers safe journeys.
Concluding his message, President Tinubu expressed confidence in divine providence and the nation’s collective strength, encouraging citizens to continue working together to build a greater Nigeria.
“I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance,” he said.
