President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their outstanding victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), securing a record-breaking 10th continental title. The national women’s football team clinched a thrilling 3-2 win against Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in the final match, held in Rabat on Sunday, 26 July 2025.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the team’s exceptional performance, highlighting their resilience and determination. “The Super Falcons’ remarkable display in Rabat, overcoming a spirited Moroccan side backed by a passionate home crowd, embodies the indomitable spirit of Nigeria,” he said.
The President further lauded the team’s hard work, dedication, and tenacity, noting that their achievement fulfilled the nation’s aspirations. “With unwavering commitment, you have realised the dream for which the nation hoped and prayed. Nigeria eagerly awaits the return of our champions. Congratulations! The nation celebrates your triumph,” he added.
The Super Falcons’ victory reinforces their dominance in African women’s football, cementing their legacy as one of the continent’s most formidable teams.
