Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed criticisms surrounding his public dancing, claiming members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) are simply “jealous” because they lack his rhythm.
Speaking at the Arise Town Hall for governorship candidates ahead of Saturday’s election, Adeleke insisted that his recreational habits do not interfere with his constitutional duties.
“I am a jolly good fellow, and I will tell you, nobody can stop me from dancing. As I’m dancing, I’m working,” Adeleke said. “You need to see me when I am working. I can dance with you now, but when you come to my office, I’m a very serious and prudent person. There’s a time for everything; a time to dance and a time to work.”
The governor attributed the frequent attacks from the opposition to envy. “They are jealous because they don’t know how to dance. If they want, I will teach them, but that does not stop me from doing my job,” he quipped.
Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, also took a swipe at his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, alleging that the former governor has failed to accept his defeat in the previous election.
“Gboyega Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of defeat because he is a cousin to Mr. President. He has caused a lot of problems in Osun State,” Adeleke claimed.
Despite the political backing aligned against him, the governor expressed confidence in his victory, declaring himself ready for the contest.
“I’m a bulldozer. I am not afraid of the Federal Government or the governors backing the APC candidate,” Adeleke asserted.
