Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Chidozie Awaziem were spotted at a Lagos nightclub in the early hours of Sunday, just hours after Nigeria secured third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

A video shared on social media by popular influencer Babatunde Akinpelu, widely known as Tunde Perry, showed the Galatasaray striker alongside the Super Eagles captain, Ndidi, with defender Awaziem also visible in the background. The gathering was part of celebrations marking Perry’s birthday.

In the footage, Perry captioned the post: “Kai from Morocco Victor,” adding his trademark slang, “Otorpinpin paaaaaa DATieeeee Mo,” loosely meaning “know your squad.” He could also be heard saying, “8 am on Sunday, on my birthday,” as he filmed with Osimhen, who received a warm reception from patrons inside the venue.

The players’ appearance in Lagos came less than 24 hours after the Super Eagles defeated Egypt 4–2 on penalties in Saturday’s third-place playoff in Casablanca, following a goalless draw after regular and extra time. The result secured Nigeria’s ninth bronze medal in AFCON history.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali emerged as the hero of the encounter, saving spot-kicks from Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. Akor Adams, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman all converted their penalties to seal the victory for Nigeria.

Both teams reached the playoff after semi-final defeats. Nigeria lost 4–2 on penalties to hosts Morocco, while Egypt were edged out 1–0 by Senegal.

Osimhen, who did not feature in the bronze-medal match, had earlier been sighted leaving the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca with his luggage on Saturday after joining teammates in post-match dressing-room celebrations. The 26-year-old forward played in five of Nigeria’s seven matches at the tournament, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Ndidi featured in all but Nigeria’s final group game against Uganda and appeared to sustain an injury during the quarter-final win over Algeria. Awaziem, meanwhile, made four appearances from the bench during the competition.

Several members of the Super Eagles squad, including Sevilla duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, have since departed Morocco. The remaining players are expected to attend the official medal presentation at Sunday’s final between hosts Morocco and Senegal at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off set for 8:00 pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria’s ninth third-place finish underscores the country’s enduring presence among Africa’s football elite. The Super Eagles have previously won the AFCON title three times in 1980, 1994 and 2013 and finished runners-up on eight occasions, with regular semi-final appearances forming a key part of their continental legacy.
