Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has accused Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his political allies of disregarding an alleged power-sharing arrangement endorsed by President Bola Tinubu following the influx of new members into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on developments within the party in Delta State, Omo-Agege claimed that President Tinubu had directed a 60-40 sharing formula between existing APC members and new entrants to ensure political balance and inclusiveness.

According to him, while the arrangement was reportedly implemented in other states, the Oborevwori camp failed to adhere to the agreement in Delta.

“There was a directive from President Tinubu that there should be a 60-40 sharing formula between the old APC and the new entrants. While that agreement was implemented elsewhere, Sheriff Oborevwori’s camp ignored it and moved to sideline everyone, including those who worked tirelessly to deliver more than 100,000 votes for President Tinubu,” Omo-Agege said.

Despite the alleged political setback, the former deputy senate president insisted that his grassroots support across the state remains intact.

He stated that extensive consultations ahead of the Delta Central Senatorial District primaries demonstrated his enduring popularity, noting that he and Senator Ede Dafinone secured victories in 84 of the 85 wards in the district.

“The organic support of the people for me has not diminished. I consulted widely and won 84 out of 85 wards in the Delta Central Senatorial primaries alongside Dafinone,” he added.

The remarks come amid growing political realignments and internal power struggles within the APC in Delta State ahead of future electoral contests.
