Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has hinted at an imminent move into partisan politics, revealing sympathy for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledging support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking during an interview with broadcaster Seun, Musa was asked directly whether he had transitioned into politics. “I’ve not transited yet,” he replied, prompting a follow-up suggestion that he was a “politician in transition.”
Pressed further on party affiliation, the Defence Minister disclosed that while he is not yet a member of the APC, he expects to be. “Not yet. But I think I’ll be,” Musa said, adding that the APC had provided him with a platform to present himself to Nigerians.
Musa was unequivocal in his support for President Tinubu, stressing the need for collective backing of the administration. “President Tinubu needs all the support,” he said. “I totally will give him all the support, including supporting his re-election bid in 2027.”
The remarks have fuelled speculation about Musa’s political future and a possible formal alignment with the APC, marking a notable moment as senior figures in government increasingly position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
