Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has reiterated his administration’s uncompromising stance against the payment of ransom to criminals, declaring that his government neither negotiates with kidnappers nor believes in ransom payments under any circumstance.

Speaking on the state’s security strategy, the governor stressed that paying ransom only emboldens criminal elements and fuels the cycle of kidnapping and banditry across the region. According to him, the policy of non-payment is a deliberate and strategic decision aimed at dismantling criminal networks rather than sustaining them.

“The policy of this government in Kaduna State is that we don’t pay ransom. I don’t even believe in ransom at all,” Governor Sani stated emphatically.

He explained that the state government has instead prioritised intelligence-driven operations, close collaboration with security agencies, and sustained investment in security infrastructure to protect lives and property.

Governor Sani acknowledged the concerns of citizens affected by insecurity but insisted that yielding to criminal demands would only worsen the situation in the long run. He maintained that Kaduna State remains committed to lawful, decisive, and coordinated security responses that restore public confidence and lasting peace.

The governor also praised the efforts of the military and other security agencies operating in the state, noting that recent successes recorded against criminal groups were proof that a firm, no-ransom policy yields results.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to strengthen security operations while addressing the root causes of insecurity through inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and economic development.
